There is a simpler long-term storage option that achieves the same properties as Thanos via standard remote write API provided by Prometheus:

• global querying view
• unlimited retention
• horizontal scalability

This is VictoriaMetrics. It has simpler architecture comparing to Thanos, it integrates with Prometheus Operator without the need in setting up any sidecars and there is a Helm chart for quick start.
