It is great to see how Prometheus agent follows the lead of vmagent - https://docs.victoriametrics.com/vmagent.html

vmagent has the following additional features, which are missing in Prometheus agent:

- it can scale horizontally to multiple nodes

- it can accept data via various push-based protocols such as InfluxDB line protocol, Graphite protocol, OpenTSDB protocol, DataDog and Prometheus text exposition format.

- vmagent usually needs lower amounts of CPU, RAM and disk IO resources than Prometheus agent
